Rapper Kidd Creole arrested in fatal stabbing of homeless man in Midtown

News 4 NY reports that the pioneering rapper, born Nathaniel Glover, 57, was arrested and charged in midtown Manhattan on Wedenesday afternoon.

Nathaniel "The Kidd Creole" Glover Jr., of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, has been charged with murder, according to TMZ.

Police say Glover got into a street dispute with a homeless man, a level 2 sex offender, on East 44th Street at Third Avenue. Police have said the man was found with multiple stab wounds in his chest.

Police have charged the 57-year-old rap legend with second-degree murder in the death of a 55-year-old man. He was taken to a nearby hopsital where he was pronoucned dead less than an hour later. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five formed in the Bronx in 1976.

Sources said police were able to find the rapper because he works in the area.

The group rose to prominence in the 80s and are credited as being one of the most influential hip hop acts.

Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 in the performers category for showing how hip-hop could tackle serious issues, especially with the gritty 1982 single "The Message", about life in the inner city.

The group split up in 1984 over business disagreements, after a string of hits including "New York, New York" and "Scorpio".
