Gator attacks homeless man taking bath in pond: 'It ate his toes'

A homeless man had his toes ripped off by a 9ft alligator as he bathed in a pond in Florida.

He was flown to a hospital where WBBH reports he is listed in fair condition.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. near Kings Highway and Suncoast Boulevard.

Frederic Iman, 68, was washing himself in a Port Charlotte when he was bitten multiple times, according to a statement from the county's fire department.

Iman, who has been homeless for more than 20 years, said he's been bathing in local ponds for the last decade since moving to Florida - and he doesn't plan to stop now.

Official said after the attack, Iman went to a nearby surgery center where an employee called 911.

"It looks like his, his trousers are torn", the employee said during the 911 call, Fox News reported.

"I turned around, and I know I punched it in the eye", he later told local ABC news affiliate, WZVN. He sustained injuries to his left foot and leg, left hand, and groin.
