Girl, 12, dies in waterskiing accident on New Hampshire lake

State police say a teenage girl was struck and killed Monday morning by a boat on Newfound Lake in Hebron, New Hampshire. After Zoe Anderson fell, her father was in the process of returning to her location when he became momentarily distracted when his hat was blown off his head, the release says. That's when he passed over her in the powerboat, travelling at a slow speed, causing serious injuries to her torso.

The girl's mother and 14-year-old sister were also in the boat at the time.

A total of 174 women lost their lives and another 462 were injured, whereas 436 children died and 1,141 were injured. Save the Children expressed alarm at the heavy toll - a third of all civilian deaths - on the country's youth.


She was immediately assisted from the water and transported to shore.

The girl was helped out of the water and CPR was initiated, but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.

Bridgewater police and fire and Bristol fire all responded to the scene.
