Madhur Bhandarkar cancels press conference of 'Indu Sarkar' fearing Congress!

One day after director Madhur Bhandarkar had to call off his press conference in Pune due to the protests by Congress workers outside his hotel over the upcoming Indu Sarkar film, the 48-year-old filmmaker took to the social media and called out Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. The party raised objections to the way Indira Gandhi and her family has been portrayed in the film, that is set in the Emergency era. Do you approve this hooliganism?

Seeing the protest, the movie stars had cancelled the press conference scheduled in Pune. Congress workers had entered a hotel in Pune on Saturday, forcing Mr. Bhandarkar to cancel the event. "Can I have my Freedom of Expression?", wrote Bhandarkar on his Twitter handle on Sunday.

"If the producers had nothing to hide about the movie, they should have first shown it to the Congress leaders and the members of the Gandhi family".

He said, "This was absolutely shocking. This film is not based on the Emergency, but Emergency is used as a backdrop in the film which is about two married people and their ideologies, while the film is political in nature", he added.

Nagpur Congress chief Vikas Thakre, said, "We wanted to meet Bhandarkar and know as to why he was not showing the movie to the concerned Congress leaders. This is hooliganism. We were forced to cancel our press conference in several cities, including Ahmedabad and Bengaluru", Bhandarkar told reporters.

The film has also run into trouble with the CBFC, which has demanded 14 cuts.
