'Inappropriate' and 'Insulting.' Most Americans Disapprove of Trump's Twitter Use

Overall, 48 percent now say they "strongly disapprove" of Trump, a level never reached by former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, and only by George W. Bush in his second term.

The only other president whose approval ratings were nearly as bad six months into his tenure was Gerald Ford, who stood at 39 percent in February 1975, Newsweek said.

- 27 percent think "America's leadership in the world has gotten stronger" under Trump.

Sixty-three per cent of Americans felt a meeting between the President's son Donald Trump Jr and a Russian lawyer who claimed to have damaging information about Hillary Clinton was "inappropriate".

Trump didn't seem that concerned about the poll results on Sunday, taking to Twitter to question the credibility of the survey while also noting that "almost 40% is not bad at this time".

Among Republicans, 38 percent of those polled said Trump's conduct has been unpresidential, a view shared by 48 percent of white evangelical protestants reached by the poll and 55 percent of white men without a college degree who responded to it.

And in another recent poll that just looked at counties that voted for Trump, he sits at a 50 percent approval rating. Among Democrats, eight in ten believe Russian Federation attempted to influence the election and more than six in ten think members of Trump's team attempted to aid their efforts.

However, Trump polled better on the economy, with 43% approving of how the president is handling the economy, and a further 41% disapproving of his performance on the economy. Meanwhile, only 59 per cent of Republicans back their party's proposal, though only 11 per cent say they prefer Obamacare. "If Trump's at 36% approve/58% disapprove, with 32% approval among independents, GOP won't hold the House", Bill Kristol, a Republican pundit and editor-at-large of The Weekly Standard conservative news magazine tweeted on Sunday.
