'Walking Dead' halts production after stuntman badly injured on set

In full preparation for the season 8 filming of the series the Walking Dead is interrupted for several days following a serious accident that occurred in the studios installed in the State of Georgia.

Bernecker appeared as a stuntman in a number of television shows and films, including The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay parts 1 and 2, and Logan, according to Variety and his page on IMDb, a website that profiles television and movie workers.

AMC also honored the late stuntman, saying in a statement, "We are deeply saddened by this loss, and our hearts and prayers are with John's family, friends and colleagues during this extremely hard time".

ET Online cited the stuntman was filming alongside Austin Amelio (Dwight) when the accident happened.

"Our production is heartbroken by the tragic loss of John Bernecker", producer Scott M. Gimple said in a statement.

The network also revealed that the bereaved family has allowed the late member to save more lives as an organ donor. They also said Bernecker's organs will be donated to those in need.

But two Republican senators have already declared their opposition to revised legislation that was unveiled on Thursday. Two Republicans, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Susan Collins of ME , have already said they'll vote against the measure.


According to Coweta County Coroner Richard Hawk, Bernecker died of blunt force trauma experienced due to his fall. His girlfriend and stuntwoman, Jennifer Cocker, said her partner deserved the best medical attention to help him recover from his injuries.

Bernecker's family and union, SAG-AFTRA, also released statements following his death.

The spokesperson added: "As always, the safety and security of our members and others on set is of crucial concern to us, and we are focused on this in our investigation". Ross Marquand, who played as Aaron in "The Walking Dead", sent his love to Bernecker's family and colleagues in this trying time. "There has to be a prerequisite not to put a super professional stuntman with an inexperienced actor who doesn't know what he's doing".
