Fiji wins Pacific Nations Cup 2017

That final team has now been confirmed to be Tonga following Samoa's failure to get a losing bonus point in their clash with Fiji.

Samoa went into their final game at the Pacific Nations Cup against Fiji knowing that a bonus point in defeat would seal their place at the tournament in Japan in two years' time.

With Samoa losing by more than 20 points, island neighbours Tonga now qualify for Japan while Samoa faces the prospect of a repechage match against the victor of Czech Republic or Portugal versus the second-place team in the 2016-17 Rugby Europe Championship.

Fiji, which secured its spot as the top Oceania qualifier a week ago, did not let up in a 38-16 victory against Samoa, which needed a win to make it to Japan.

Fiji's win Saturday continued an outstanding run of form in June and July internationals in which they have beaten Scotland and Italy and stayed unbeaten in the Pacific Nations Cup.

Seniloli completed his hattrick immediately after halftime, finishing a move in which Nagusa was again prominent.

Half back Henry Seniloli scored a hat-trick of tries while Jale Vatubua and Api Ratuniyarawa also scored a try each in the second spell.
