Air Force report warns of growing missile threat to USA homeland

The US Congress is pushing for a bill meant to block companies with North Korea ties from using the American financial system amid growing calls for secondary sanctions against entities in China and elsewhere that may assist with Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs. The notification, which was put out by the external affairs ministry, also banned supply, sale or export of other items, materials, equipment, goods and technology, which could contribute to North Korea's nuclear- related, ballistic missile-related or other weapons of mass destruction-related programmes, according to PTI report.

"In my view, they have given up trying to influence North Korea", said Ramon Pacheco Pardo, a senior lecturer in global relations at King's College London.

U.S. President Donald Trump, who is calling on Beijing to apply more pressure on Pyongyang, criticized China in a tweet July 5: "Trade between China and North Korea grew nearly 40% in the first quarter".

On July 3rd, North Korea announced it successfully conducted an intercontinental ballistic missile test. US military officials are assessing all the facts, but it appears Pyongyang is significantly closer to developing a missile that could reach the continental United States. What the U.S. should do instead of pressuring China is devise a new policy toward the DPRK, says Brian Becker from the ANSWER Coalition.

The so-called "secondary sanctions" now being considered are a way for the United States to apply targeted economic pressure on companies in countries with ties to North Korea by denying them access to the USA market and financial system.

"We must utilize direct negotiations with Pyongyang alongside increased economic sanctions pressure from China to bring the Kim regime to the table and ultimately rid the Korean Peninsula of nuclear weapons".

Despite being concerned about North Korea's nuclear program, a majority of Filipinos are found to have a positive view of the reclusive country, bucking the region's distrust of Pyongyang, a study said.

In their foreign ministers' joint statement, China and Russian Federation insisted that North Korea's "justified concerns should be respected".

MNT needed to win by three or more goals to take first place in the group and avoid a quarterfinal matchup with Costa Rica . The Americans applied early pressure but didn't sustain rhythm, struggled to connect passes and let the tempo drop.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has proposed fresh sanctions against North Korea in hopes of dealing with the problem. Nonetheless, the North's new weapon represents a serious national security threat for the U.S. One way or another, therefore, North Korea must be disarmed.

The new data reflects China's attempt to pull off a delicate balancing act between the USA and North Korea, where it wants to prevent the regime collapsing because it worries about what that would mean for regional stability. Two quakes measuring 5.1 and 5.8 jolted southeastern South Korea on September 12, causing no casualties.

"My bipartisan legislation gives those that now conduct trade with North Korea a clear choice - either do business with this heinous outlaw regime or do business with the world's leading economic and military power", he added. Initial reports indicated that it landed within the exclusive economic zone of our ally, Japan, a country where we have tens of thousands of American service members, civilian employees and family members stationed, as well as ships, aircraft and bases. "I think it's very unsafe to try and build policy on that kind of medium".

That means North Korea is on the verge of creating a truly intercontinental nuclear threat: "Missiles of this scale are nearly always equipped with nuclear warheads", he said.
