Trump administration deception 'is mind-boggling — Fox's Shepard Smith

Unlike some of his conservative colleagues at Fox News, Shepard Smith isn't buying that the White House's relationship with the Russian government is a "nothing burger".

"The deception, Chris, is mind-boggling", Smith told fellow Fox News host Chris Wallace.

Skeptics would soon realize, Smith suggested, that the media was accurate in its noting that the Trump administration lies.

Smith spoke with Chris Wallace today and first brought up Charles Krauthammer's new column titled "Bungled collusion is still collusion". "Why is it lie after lie after lie?" They're still not clean on this, Chris. If all of that, why all these lies?

Bakayoko arrives in United Kingdom and posts Cobham picture ahead of Chelsea transfer
Conte will be keen to conclude transfer business swiftly to prepare for the season opening in less than a month's time. TIEMOUE BAKAYOKO appears to be hinting his Chelsea move is off in yet another cryptic social media post.

Smith said his grandmother used to say that "oh, what a tangled web we leave when first we practice to deceive". And there are still people out there who believe we're making it up.

"You know, I don't know what to say".

As the Washington Post noted, Smith had either a Howard Beale or a Walter Cronkite moment, depending on your perspective.

Wallace's and Smith's takes on the Russian Federation controversy plaguing Trump's presidency are very different from that of their colleagues on the network, including conservative host Sean Hannity, who recently interviewed Trump Jr., and the hosts of the morning show "Fox & Friends".

Reactions from both ends of the political spectrum were heated on Twitter.

At one point Smith unleashes on Trump, literally leaving Wallace speechless.

Though Fox News is dominated by unhinged conspiracy-mongers (Hannity, Sean) and disingenuous outrage-peddlers (Carlson, Tucker), the network retains a few "real" journalists who function as a reputational fig leaf for the network, just so people don't get the impression that it's all propaganda over there. "Shepard Smith is a dim light in the vast darkness of hate at Fox News", tweeted another.
