Trying to find hope in the Lakers post-D'Angelo Russell trade

The NBA Draft is upon us now and one wonders where guys like Lonzo Ball - the expected number 2 pick of the Los Angeles Lakers out of the hometown UCLA Bruins collection - will go.

The Lakers have missed the playoffs for four consecutive seasons. Johnson and general manager, Rob Pelinka, have reiterated the team's plan to sign two max-level free agents next July to pair up with franchise cornerstones Ball and Brandon Ingram.

"Lonzo Ball is gonna take the Lakers to the playoffs his first year".

If cheering could win matches, the Lions should have thrashed the Germans. "It was impressive against a world class side". All these are some of the things that would need to be fixed before the big fiesta of 2018.

Popular as the National Basketball Association is here with two teams playing to packed houses and pulling down hundreds of millions in local TV revenue, it's been a long time since we were actually relevant, with the Clippers still in eclipse while disappearing early in the playoffs and the Lakers coming off No. 14-14-15-14 finishes in the West. He also blogs about basketball at Palestra Back and has contributed to Rush The Court, ESPN.com, and USA Today Sports Weekly. He even said he expects to see Ball's jersey retired one day. "I needed somebody also that can make the other players better and also (somebody) that players want to play with". And I said, OK, that's all I needed to hear.

"I'm a very optimistic person, but I don't look that far into the future", Walton said at the team's practice facility, where a group of season-ticket holders and sponsors gathered for a draft party. The team that picked him was just who he had in mind.

Ball could make his debut in a Lakers uniform during the NBA Summer League season in Las Vegas. Thursday, the Lakers selected Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart, and Thomas Bryant. He has greatness written all over him. Ball let it be known that he liked what he saw out of the Lakers.

Rafael Nadal withdraws from Queen's Club tournament to rest
The 31-year-old lost only 35 games in seven matches and won the title without dropping a set for the third time. After Sunday's final, Nadal became the first person in the Open Era to win 10 titles at a Grand Slam .

"Watch out", Johnson said, according to Lakers.com. "I'm used to it".

The Lakers made it clear during the selection process they were looking for a leader to drive their young players, which include Ingram, Jordan Clarkson, Ivica Zubac, Julius Randle, Larry Nance, and say Ball can be that leader.

And who knows, maybe we can get Braun Strowman or The Big Show to take care of business and challenge LaVar to a match at the Staples Center.
