Republican senator has 'very serious' concerns on USA health-care bill

Hours after McConnell unveiled the bill Thursday, four other Republican senators said they opposed the measure and several others expressed qualms about it, The Associated Press reported. "I think that they'll probably get there, but we'll have to wait and see".

"Make no mistake, this bill in the Senate, like the one in the House, would be a U-turn on the progress we've made when it comes to affordable care in the United States of America", said Sen.

The Senate's 142-page proposal, worked out in secret by a group led by McConnell, aims to deliver on a central Trump campaign promise to undo former President Barack Obama's signaturehealthcare law, which has provided coverage to 20 million Americans since it was passed in 2010.

Heller said it is a "lie" that the Senate Republican health care bill would lower premiums. "Look forward to making it really special!"

Health insurers criticized the steep cuts to Medicaid proposed in the Senate bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act as "too much, too fast". Dean Heller (R-NV) and conservative Senators Rand Paul, Ron Johnson, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz.

"As we estimate the cost of the subsidies to buy insurance, we actually believe they may exceed, or at least equal, the subsidies that are under Obamacare", said Paul.

"It's going to be a good bill", Trump said in a separate Fox News interview to air on Sunday.

The Senate Republican bill is a tax giveaway to the wealthiest Americans; the top one-tenth of the one percent would receive thousands upon thousands of annual tax cuts while some individuals with disabilities lose coverage.

U.S. President Donald Trump is bemoaning what he calls "the level of hostility" among the parties that has stymied bipartisanship. Trump has yet to explicitly say whether he will support the legislation as it is now written. Walker said he's spoken with McConnell and other Senate leaders and called on them to change the bill before holding a vote.

"We are doing everything we can to fight this bill, because it's so devastating for the middle class", Schumer told ABC.

"Any federal legislator who votes for this bill and says, oh I didn't cut Medicaid, I just sent it back to the states-that whole deliberately misleading", he added.

"We are encouraged that the draft Senate legislation funds cost-sharing reductions, which help those who need it most", BCBSA said in a statement.
