PM Modi meets top CEOs of Global multinationals

Modi was just four-month old into his new job. "Those who suffered (Pakistan) because of this, is a different thing", Modi said while addressing the members of Indian diaspora in Washington on Sunday. It was an unusually simple affair. What PM Modi's statement indicates is that India is not a pushover on security issues and will limit global intervention on the Kashmir issue.

Things have changed rapidly since then.

PM Modi, during his meeting with the CEOs of top 20 American firms, also said that India attracted the largest amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) as a result of the NDA government's policies in the last three years.

The working dinner that Trump is hosting for Modi is the first of its kind under the administration. Counter-terrorism, climate change, H-1B Visa and defence deals are likely to feature prominently during the much awaited meeting. He said this indicates India's quest for global benchmarks.

In advance of the meeting, the Trump administration approved India's purchase of almost two dozen unarmed surveillance drones. Modi expressed his gratitude and thanked for the warm welcome.

Pichai, Cook, and Bezos came out of the meeting seeming pleased with the discussion and excited to invest in India. "Probably this was the reason why no nation raised a finger or tried to question us when he went in for surgical strike as this realisation has dawned on the world community that terrorism is an enemy of mankind", he said.

During both his interactions in Washington DC on Sunday, June 25 - one with the top 20 CEOs of U.S. companies and another with the Indian diaspora in the country - Modi painted a rosy picture of the country.

Modi said that it was "surprising for me to know that there had never been a bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Portugal".

But experts said that the Modi government must not forget that they are dealing with an administration in the U.S., which is pursuing a transactional agenda. Both the leaders will issue press statements.
