Jeremy Corbyn well received as he visits Glastonbury Festival

Corbyn hinted at renewed support for his party following the election, saying: "I don't believe all the opinion polls, but every indication I've got is there's an terrible lot more people coming to the same conclusion". Pointing to the wall around the festival site, Corbyn said: "there's a message on that wall for President Donald Trump, and do you know what it says?" Jeremy Corbyn has landed at Glastonbury, and the mood is ecstatic.

In the lead up to the election Corbyn offered voters a promise to build a fairer society through policies such as raising taxes for the richest 5 percent, scrapping university tuition fees and investing $315 billion in infrastructure - plans the Conservatives said defied any realistic budget proposal.

"The elites got it wrong", he said.

Organiser Michael Eavis, who invited Mr Corbyn to appear, introduced him on stage, saying: "At last we have a leader to put in place all the issues we've been campaigning for for 40 years".

Even before his arrival, music fans at the festival were singing "Oh, Jeremy Corbyn" to the tune of "Seven Nation Army". "Politics is about the lives of all of us".

"The young people who got involved in politics for the first time are fed up with being, denigrated, fed up with being told they don't matter, don't participate..."

"Shake your chains to earth like dew, which in sleep had fallen on you".

Mr Corbyn also commented on the recent election, which saw Prime Minister Theresa May's majority cut in the House of Commons, following a vote in which the turnout among young people was reported to have increased dramatically. "We're doing things differently, we're doing things better!" he said.
