Donald Trump lashes out over probe into possible obstruction of justice

In his testimony on June 8, Comey told the Senate Intelligence Committee that he believed Trump had fired him over his role as lead of the FBI investigation into Russian interference in the US election and Trump campaign associates' possible ties to Russia.

"They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story". On Friday, the President tweeted he was under "investigation", which he called a "witch hunt" in another tweet.

President Trump fired back at reports Wednesday that he's being investigated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller for possible obstruction of justice.

Comey, who was sacked by Trump on 9 May, told a Senate panel last week he believed the president dismissed him to undermine the FBI's Russian Federation probe.

Asked whether Trump's actions rose to the level of obstruction of justice, Comey testified last week: "I don't know".

The President has stressed he was not under investigation, and has taken to Twitter to dismiss the entire investigation as a hoax.

Travel Ban Looms For SCOTUS
Because visa and green card holders were included in the first ban, it immediately produced confusion and protests at US airports. All 13 judges on those two courts who voted to strike down the revised travel ban were appointed by Democratic presidents.

The NSA said in a statement that the "NSA will fully cooperate with the special counsel". Rosenstein was acting, because Attorney General Jeff Sessions had recused himself from acting in the Russia investigation after it was revealed he had held two meetings with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak before the November 8, 2016 election.

While a sitting president is unlikely to face criminal prosecution, obstruction of justice could form the basis for impeachment.

The White House has denied any collusion, and Trump has repeatedly complained about the probe, saying Democrats can not accept his election win.

Mueller was appointed by Rosenstein on 17 May to lead the Russian Federation investigation as a special counsel, a position created to conduct investigations when a normal Justice Department probe would present a conflict of interest.

Mueller's investigators have asked for information and will talk to Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and National Security Agency Director Adm. Mike Rogers, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.

The Washington Post report cited anonymous sources who were briefed on requests made by investigators.

Laredo Petroleum, Inc. (LPI) closed at $9.77 in the last trading session
Finally, Tiedemann Wealth Management LLC bought a new stake in Laredo Petroleum during the first quarter valued at about $150,000. The transaction was disclosed in a legal filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission, which is available at this link .

The meeting came one day after lawmakers questioned US Department of Justice officials about the probe and Mueller's independence, and after a friend of Trump said the White House was considering firing Mueller. "Nice", the President said. "It is in everybody's best interests if we let him do his job". The FOIA request sought records regarding that conversation, as well as any other interactions between Comey and Trump between January 20 and May 10 of 2017.

A source familiar with the Mueller investigation confirmed the Post report, saying an examination of possible obstruction of justice charges was "unavoidable" given Comey's testimony, although the issue may not become the main focus of the probe.

Friday's tweets are the latest in a week of angry social media responses by the president over a report by The Washington Post that Mueller was looking into whether Trump obstructed justice.

Mr Trump denied telling Mr Comey to drop the Flynn investigation or asking for the FBI chief's "loyalty" and said he was "100 per cent" willing to testify under oath to that.

That isn't true anymore, according to reporting by The Washington Post on Wednesday night.

Pence said on Twitter on May 10 that Trump had "made the right decision at the right time to remove Comey as the head of the FBI" and praised him for showing "strong & decisive leadership to restore trust & confidence of the American people in the Federal Bureau of Investigation".

North Korea says it kept Warmbier alive, blames Obama for his death
North Korea released him last week for what it described as humanitarian reasons and he died Monday in a USA hospital. He said North Korea's treatment of Warmbier demonstrated "a basic disregard for human rights, for human dignity".

It is the most significant sign yet that Mueller's investigation is extending beyond questions of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
