Jurors sent home after a day of deadlock and deliberation

The jury of seven men and five women have deliberated for almost 40 hours since getting the case Monday.

Meanwhile, Cosby supporters have gathered outside the Norristown courthouse.

Each count carries a maximum 10-year prison term, though the counts could be merged at sentencing if Cosby is convicted.

Cosby is charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault against former Temple University basketball staffer Andrea Constand.

The jury's note, delivered a few minutes after 11 a.m. on Thursday, raised the possibility that the closely watched case might end in a mistrial, leaving it to prosecutors to decide whether to seek a retrial. Bill Cosby exits the courtroom during his sexual assault trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pa., Wednesday, June 14, 2017. He said that Bill Cosby would like to "say thank you to these jurors". According to an affidavit, Constand has accused Cosby of drugging her with three blue pills and then making physical contact without her consent including forcing his hands into her pants and coercing her into touching his erect penis in 2004. The evidence the jury has asked to review during deliberations seems to point to a split among jurors, and what could conceivably signal a heated debate taking place behind closed doors.

They began deliberating Monday evening and will resume deliberations Thursday morning. In it, Cosby admitted to giving her pills; he said they were Benadryl to help her relax.

More than 60 women have come forward to accuse Cosby of sexual assault since the allegation re-entered the spotlight in 2014, thanks to a viral stand-up bit by comedian Hannibal Buress. Legal experts also pointed out that sometimes juries do come back with a verdict on at least some counts after being ordered by the court to continue working.

And, no matter what happens here, Cosby still has to face civil charges for similar alleged crimes.

Sanders noted Wednesday that he was aware that Hodgkinson had volunteered on his presidential campaign and denounced the violence. Another incident took place in 2006 involving an alleged domestic battery and unlawful discharge of a shotgun.

The jury tasked with sealing Bill Cosby's fate has deadlocked after 30 hours of deliberations.

"Happy to know that he has 12 people, of his peers, who understand that the facts of this case don't add up", said his spokesman Andrew Wyatt. But at 79, Cosby has long since left the limelight and the man that was once known as "America's Dad' will be leaving a different legacy behind".

The prosecution spent a week presenting its case, and the defense less than a day.

With television cameras capturing every moment, Lili Bernard, who has accused Cosby of raping her while she was a guest star on his 1980s hit TV series "The Cosby Show", read a Bible passage aloud to Cosby defenders before tearfully hugging a friend.

During closing arguments, prosecutors said the case was a "slam-dunk" on manslaughter charges, according to NBC Cincinnati WLWT5 . One, Charles Campbell, said, "This is a miscarriage of justice, this is unacceptable [.] We can not allow this in our city".

Signs that they were divided grew over the next two days as they sent out request after request for read-backs of key testimony, including Constand's statements on the witness stand and Cosby's police interview and deposition testimony.
