Angel Di Maria Fined £1.76 Million Over Tax Evasion While In Spain

Spain's prosecutor's office alleged back in November that Di Maria failed to declare €1.298m in earnings between 2012 and 2013, while on the books of Real Madrid, by ceding his image rights to an offshore company, Sunpex Corporation Inc, based in Panama.

It was not immediately possible to reach Di Maria's representatives for a comment.

Argentina global Di Maria is accused of failing to pay 1.3m euros to the Spanish tax authorities in 2012-2013 by giving up his image rights to companies based in tax havens, such as Panama.

Premier League giants Manchester United have reportedly ditched their attempt to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo, deciding to target FC Barcelona star Neymar instead. In return, the Spanish government ratified that Mourinho was in compliance with his tax obligations during his time at Real.

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, accused of evading 14.7 million euros in tax, has been summoned to appear before a judge in Spain, judicial sources said.

Spanish prosecutor says Ronaldo used a business structure to hide his image rights income.

The accusations against Ronaldo have caused speculation in Portugal and Spain that he is considering leaving the country to play elsewhere.

Mourinho, 54, who left Madrid in 2013, faces two counts of tax fraud.
