Ronaldo won't quit Real, says Real boss

Re-elected Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has described the uncertainty surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo's future as "very strange".

Perez has been elected to a fifth term as Madrid's president, extending his tenure with the La Liga giant until 2021.

The reigning Ballon d'Or and Best FIFA Men's Player award victor is believed to feel singled out for disproportionate treatment after Spanish prosecutors accused him of evading tax of 14.7million euros (£12.8m).

"Nobody at Real Madrid is contemplating that Cristiano will go", Perez told Spanish radio station Onda Cero, as quoted in The Times.

"He just wants to be the best player in the world".

Portuguese outlet A Bola claimed that the national team skipper, now playing at the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation, has told his agent Jorge Mendes to get him back to Manchester United. He also said he needed to speak to the Portuguese but, with the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation under way, now was not a good time.

"I haven't spoken with Cristiano, I learned about it because of what came out in the newspapers".

"Cristiano Ronaldo is more powerful than all of us", he said. It has affected me how the news of Cristiano was treated in the media.

He also confirmed that Ronaldo's contract was ring-fenced by a one billion euro release clause.

"I must defend him at all costs, both as a player and as a person".

Under Perez, Real Madrid have won three Champions League titles in four seasons.
