Israeli female police officer stabbed to death in Jerusalem attack

IS issued a statement Saturday taking responsibility for the stabbing and shooting attacks Friday evening.

Whether or not ISIS had a hand in the attack, the group's Amaq news agency said it wouldn't be its last.

But Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist group that runs the Gaza Strip, dismissed the claim, saying the attackers had come from among its own ranks and the leftist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

The Jerusalem District Police is investigating Friday's terror attack, which claimed the life of Hadas Malka, and will examine the Border Police officers' reaction when the terrorist surprised them. "The female officer was stabbed multiple times and in critical condition before being rushed to the hospital, where unfortunately, she died of her wounds a short while afterwards".

"The claim by the Islamic State group is an attempt to muddy the waters", said Hamas spokesman Sami Abou Zouhri. In that time, some 250 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire, a majority of them attackers, according to authorities.

The pair of adults seemed to communicate and decided they were able to help the calf if they entered the shallow end. However, effective help came in only when a second elephant arrived on the scene to ensure a successful rescue.

The assaults took place simultaneously in two areas near the Damascus gate of Jerusalem's walled old city.

The father of the third, 18-year-old Adel Ankoush, said his son was too young to belong to any faction. Irrespective of who claims the attacks the result is the same and Israel has to be vigilant.

"The payments made by the Palestinian Authority to terrorists and their families encourage heinous attacks like we saw today", Dannon said.

Netanyahu noted the several steps taken by the Jerusalem government to prevent further attacks, including preparing to demolish the terrorists' homes, the revoking of Palestinian visits in Israel previously approved for the Muslim month of Ramadan, and police reinforcement of security arrangements and checking procedures in the plaza around the Damascus Gate, where the attack occurred. Previous year saw the deadly Sarona Market terror attack, in which four people were killed and over a dozen were wounded, take place during Ramadan.

"Police arrested two suspects who attacked officers who were injured lightly and treated at the scene".

Israeli security forces and a military bulldozer raid the occupied West Bank village of Deir Abu Mashal near Ramallah on Saturday after the Jerusalem attack.

The incidents were the latest in a wave of violence that has claimed the lives of at least 250 Palestinians, 41 Israelis, two Jordanian tourists, two USA nationals, two refugees from Sudan and Eritrea and a British tourist since mid-September 2015.

Since October 2015, more than 285 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces during - or immediately after - alleged attacks on Israelis or in clashes with Israeli security forces, according to Palestinian figures.
