Dani Alves Agrees To Join Manchester City

The Old Lady signed the Brazilian to a two-year contract last summer, but their relationship seems to have turned sour with reports stating Alves has asked for his contract to be torn up in order to join Manchester City.

Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio had reported on his website that Alves and his agent had sat down with Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta, to discuss ending his stay in Turin 12 months ahead of schedule, as rumours of an impending move to Manchester City or Chelsea gather pace.

He is awaiting the go-ahead from the Italian champions to begin talks with City.

With City releasing Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabaleta, a right-back has become Guardiola's priority and, given Alves' experience, the former Barca and Bayern Munich manager sees the 34-year-old as the flawless fit to fill the void in his defence. Now the transfer gods have smiled down on the Premier League once again, with Alves set to join Man City for absolutely nothing.

Alves is expected to earn around £85,000-a-week at the Etihad.

The Citizens are in desperate need of right back after allowing Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna to leave at the end of the previous campaign.

City believe a bid of around £5m (S$8.7 million) may be sufficient to secure his transfer and should they sign Alves, it would be the club's third acquisition of the summer, following the captures of Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva from Monaco and Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson from Benfica. They won three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues titles together during their four seasons together at Camp Nou.

The Manchester club is also reportedly interested in Tottenham Hotspur's Kyle Walker for the right back position, but an official bid is yet to be made.
