Wonder Woman breaks box office records for female director

"The attempt was to create hype that it was an Indian star in a Hollywood film but the hype stays just within the media circle and hardly reaches the audience as they are simply not interested", states the Box Office India. Starring Gal Gadot as the Amazonian warrior princess, Wonder Woman is the rare - and most successful - female-led film in an overwhelmingly male superhero landscape.

Wonder Woman shattered box office expectations and records with a $100.5 million opening weekend, making it the highest domestic opening for a female director. Wonder Women is doing a fantastic job and is going to earn maximum profits in the upcoming days as well.

Wonder Woman burst onto the sluggish summer blockbuster scene this weekend, exceeding box office projections.

The film made USD$100.5 million at the USA box office in its opening weekend, making it the highest-grossing opening weekend for a female-directed film (the title previously held by 50 Shades Of Grey, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson).

On the heels of the film's $103.1 million opening weekend, Entertainment Weekly recently shared Jenkins' thoughts on a sequel for the heroic Gal Gadot vehicle, taken from an April interview.
