The company is also dealing with a Justice Department investigations into tools that it used to evade law enforcement personnel in cities where the authorities were trying to shut down its ride-hailing service. Whether Uber's Senior Vice President of Business Emil Michael, who has been involved in many of Uber's past imbroglios, should also be forced out was apparently on the meeting agenda as well.

According to the Washington Post, Michael's seat on the board has been filled by an outsider, Nestle Executive Vice President Wan Ling Martello. Having joined Uber from Klout in 2013, Michael oversaw Uber's broader business strategy, including partnerships and fundraising.

If Mr Michael does leave it would be the latest high-profile departure from Uber. J. William Gurley and David Bonderman, two independent board members, are said to already be anxious about Kalanick's management.

Uber's board is reportedly considering a leave of absence for Kalanick following his mother's death and father's injury in a serious boating accident last month.

Uber's board of directors voted unanimously to adopt all recommendations of a report that was conducted after allegations of sexual harassment and other issues at the company came to light, according to a representative for the board.

On June 11, Uber's board chose to accept all recommendations made in the final report that would be released on June 13 along with with a reform plan. However, the possibility of Kalanick taking a leave of absence has triggered a leadership crisis within the company.

Last week, Uber said it fired 20 staff after another law firm looked into 215 cases encompassing complaints of sexual harassment, discrimination, unprofessional behaviour, bullying and other employee claims. He was at the center of one of Uber's earliest public scandals, when in 2014 he was allegedly caught bragging about spending $1 million to investigate the private lives of journalists who were critical of Uber. Whether or not the board pushes for this depends upon the findings of the months-long investigation led by Holder.

Last week Uber's finance chief, Gautam Gupta, said he was leaving, following NY general manager, Josh Mohrer, and the head of Uber's self-driving unit, Anthony Levandowski, out of the door. An Uber spokeswoman also declined to comment further.
