Turkish troops arrive in Qatar for joint military drills


Al Jazeera is the flagship broadcaster for Qatar, which is the target of a diplomatic and economic boycott by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bahrain, in a stand-off that is endangering stability in the region.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu held talks late Friday with Saudi Arabia's King Salman about the crisis engulfing Qatar.

The allies are working on a list of all their grievances against Qatar, which until now have been cast mostly in general terms of "supporting terrorist groups" and deploying "hostile media", a reference to the popular al-Jazeera satellite television station.

Arab countries had initially dominated the Qatari monarchy after its independence in 1971.

Gargash said the priority concern was in dealing with Doha's links to al Qaeda-linked and other Islamist groups across the region as well as its ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and the Palestinian Hamas group.
