Pilot diverts EasyJet flight to London over suspicious talk

On arrival at Cologne-Bonn airport at about 6:30pm on Saturday, all 151 passengers on board were evacuated via the emergency slides where they were met by police.

Christoph Gilles told The Associated Press that cops destroyed a rucksack belonging to one of the Brits but no explosives were discovered.

German police searched the aircraft and found no explosives in the men's luggage or on the plane.

But all ended well with the easyJet flight, aside from some late flights, scuffed passengers and the detention of three men - who were released Sunday.

Federal police seized a backpack that belonged to one of the men, and bomb squad officers exploded it outside of the aircraft, police said.

A passenger on the EasyJet flight informed the plane's flight crew of a potential "terrorist conversation" between three British men on the flight.

A passenger on the flight told Sky News they were initially told the aircraft was diverting for "operational reasons".

They are being questioned "on the suspicion of the preparation of a serious state-threatening violence", said a statement.

A statement on EasyJet's website said that passengers would be provided with hotel rooms and transport to and from the airport.
