Modi attends BJP Parliamentary Board meeting

In an effort to build an unopposed consensus for the upcoming presidential polls, BJP president Amit Shah paid a "courtesy" visit to Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday.

The BJP Parliamentary Board meeting - which was scheduled to shortlist the candidate for the country's top post today - was attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party chief Amit Shah.

"From the discussion, it appears that Shiv Sena will support the NDA nominee for the presidential election", the senior BJP member said.

Shah is now on a three-month nationwide tour covering all states to take stock and strengthen the party organisation across India, as part of the three-year celebrations of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in power under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
