Andrea Constand Testifies Against Bill Cosby in Sexual-Assault Trial

The pioneering American black actor faces three counts of aggravated indecent assault, with each carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail and a US$25,000 (S$34,500) fine.

Johnson testified that Cosby assaulted her in 1996, but a lawyer who was involved in a related investigation told the jury that Johnson in an earlier deposition said it occurred in 1990.

Andrea Constand told jurors Cosby had earned her trust for more than a year before drugging and assaulting her in his Philadelphia mansion in 2004. She told how Cosby allegedly gave her three blue pills, telling her they were to reduce stress.

Mr Cosby's lawyer, Mr Brian McMonagle, attacked Ms Constand's credibility and said the alleged assault never happened.

She said she started feeling woozy after about 20 minutes, with blurred vision, slurred words and legs that felt like rubber.

Constand said she worked as the director of basketball operations at Temple University, and she was introduced to Cosby at a basketball game in the fall of 2002.

"I felt that if I had gone to the police, that Mr. Cosby would retaliate and try to hurt me, that he would try to hurt me or my family in some way", she testified.

Some 60 women have come forward to say Cosby sexually violated them, but the statute of limitations for prosecution had run out in almost every case.

Agrusa has suggested that Constand once enjoyed a romantic dinner by the fire at Cosby's home before the alleged assault. Constand is a 44-year-old message therapist from Toronto, Ontario and she became friends with Bill Cosby before the alleged incident.

Constand: "I wanted it to stop".

"I was jolted conscious, jolted awake, and I felt Mr. Cosby's hand groping my breasts, under my shirt", a visibly upset Constand said.

"I was leaving in a month, and I did not want to stir up any trouble, and for it to look negative to not talk with a trustee", Constand said. She said she continued to visit Cosby because "I wasn't scared of someone making a pass at me or an advance at me".

Coming face-to-face for the first time since she accused entertainment icon Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting her, a former Temple University athletic department employee revealed the sordid details of the assault to a jury in a very public forum. "And I said, 'I did not".

Angela Agrusa claims her line of questioning will show Ms Constand changed her mind about the date of the alleged 2004 assault. Today, in a Pennsylvania courtroom, she told her story publicly for the first time. "I can only go based on who I've experienced, and at the end of the day, it's the court's job to find the truth of the matter".

He arrived at the courthouse Wednesday accompanied by actress Sheila Frazier, who starred with him in the 1978 comedy "California Suite", and Frazier's husband, John Atchison, a celebrity hairstylist whose clients include Cosby and his wife, Camille.

Cross-examination is due to continue on Wednesday. She testified that he grabbed her thigh during one instance at his home and attempted to unbutton her trousers in another. Cosby has denied all the charges and is not expected to take the stand.

Cosby apologized to Constand's mother during a later phone call but again declined to say what medication he'd given her, Constand said.

On Tuesday, Johnson's mother, Pattrice Sewell, bolstered her daughter's story.

Constand said she went to a few dinners with Cosby, two times in groups with other individuals.

Her claim is the only one to reach court because the time limits on all the others have run out. "He didn't want that", Ms Sewell said.

After Constand began "seeing double", she realized that her legs were weak, at which point she alleges that Cosby led her to a couch, where she "passed out".
