Cosby jury deadlocked after four days of deliberations

But if the seven-man, five-woman panel ultimately fails to reach a verdict O'Neill will be forced to declare a hung jury, leaving the prosecution with the option of requesting a re-trial.

However, jurors will only determine if Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted Andrea Constand, the central accuser in the case against Cosby and former director of operations for Temple's women's basketball team, in his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

"It's emotionally draining. It's very frustrating", she said of the jury's inability to reach a verdict.

Cosby's lawyers sought to discredit her by pointing to discrepancies between her testimony and statements to law enforcement in 2005, when she first reported the incident a year after it allegedly occurred. He says their sexual encounter was consensual. The district attorney's office declined to comment.

The notification of a deadlock came at 11:06 a.m. via a note from the jury foreperson."We can not come to a unanimous consensus on any of the counts", the note read.O'Neill gave the jurors instruction regarding their responsibilities and sent them back to deliberate about 11:30 a.m.Cosby, 79, is charged with drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in his Cheltenham home in 2004.

Defense Lawyer Attacks Bill Cosby Accuser Andrea Constand for Alleged Inconsistencies
He has been accused of sexually assaulting 60 women and in Constand's case, he's charged with three counts of aggravated assault. Cosby does not plan to testify, meaning the trial's outcome will likely hinge on whether jurors believe Constand's testimony.

Judge O'Neill recognized that sacrifice. A court officer, however, stated that the records did not reflect the maximum time taken for deliberations by a jury as far as criminal cases are concerned.

The jury seemed to be grappling with the basic framework of the case, sending several notes to the judge asking for large swaths of testimony to be read back to them. "I said 'I trust you.' I took the pills and I swallowed the pills down". Judge Steve O'Neill ordered them back into their chamber to continue. "Today we have really seen Mr. Cosby get the justice he was looking for", Wyatt told reporters.

Cosby is charged sexually assaulting Constand, 44.

"I just want to wish all of the fathers a happy Father's Day", Cosby said.

This news organization does not typically identify people who say they are victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Constand has done. Jurors also asked the court to define the phrase "without her knowledge" in one of the charges, and asked to rehear testimony from the Cheltenham police detective who interviewed Cosby.

While at Thursday's rally, Green took a shot at James again, referencing James saying that he didn't believe he has "played for a superteam".

But he said he no longer had the sedative - a highly popular party drug in the 1970s that was banned in the 1982 - when he met Constand in 2002 at Temple University.

More than 60 women have come forward to accuse Cosby of sexual assault since the allegation re-entered the spotlight in 2014, thanks to a viral stand-up bit by comedian Hannibal Buress. She got the show tickets because her family loved Cosby, and she hadn't yet told them about the alleged assault.

Cosby's spokesman maintained the impasse showed that jurors doubted Constand's story.

The sequestered jury has been working late into the night since getting the case Monday, pausing a half-dozen times to revisit key evidence, including Cosby's decade-old admissions that he fondled Andrea Constand after giving her pills.

A hung jury would represent a clear victory for Cosby, star of the 1980s hit TV comedy The Cosby Show, while a conviction could send him to prison for the rest of his life.

This Is One of the Most Damning Messages From Michelle Carter's Trial
The trial is the first time prosecutors in the state have sought such a stiff charge in a case based only on text messages. At one point, Roy got out of the truck because he felt sick, but Carter told him over the phone to " get back in ".
