Trump attacks obstruction of justice probe by former Federal Bureau of Investigation chief Mueller

And, like Trump, Sessions didn't exactly criticize Comey's handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation during the presidential campaign. "The suggestion that I participated in any collusion.is an appalling and detestable lie". It reminded Washington of another attorney general who testified 10 years ago, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

Harris: You referred to a longstanding DOJ policy, can you tell us what policy it is that you're talking about? This is not some amorphous term, but one that the president must formally invoke.

"More often than not, the committee conducts its work behind closed doors, a necessary step to ensure that our most sensitive sources and methods are protected", Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr, R-North Carolina, said Tuesday at the start of the Sessiona hearing. As security adviser during the campaign, Sessions said, he did not recall being asked by the candidate about alleged Russian interference in the election. Yesterday's testimony did not depict a man who was certain of the facts of his case.

Sessions told the Intelligence Committee that he agreed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Justice Department needed to follow department policies regarding its contacts with the White House in such sensitive matters.

"Whether Sessions just believes in the principles [of executive privilege] or he's concerned about not offending a president with whom it's been reported he's been having some difficulty recently, it's hard to know what his motives are", said Norman Abrams, a lawyer who worked in the criminal division of the Justice Department.

In response to the news, a spokesman for Mark Kasowitz, President Trump's personal attorney for the Russian Federation investigation, said the following: "The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable, and illegal".

French Open 2017: Ostapenko stuns Halep for first major title
Things went her way to the tune of 54 winners, a remarkably high total that was 46 more than the defensive-minded Halep. But dreams only come true in tennis with a lot of work, a lot of dedication and plenty of confidence.

Sessions asserted he did not collude with the Russians and had no knowledge of any collusion and addressed the newly surfaced rumor that he had a previously undisclosed meeting with RUSSIAN Kislyak at a Trump campaign event at the Mayflower Hotel.

And this is not the only obfuscation perpetrated by our nation's chief lawman.

Jeff Sessions came out swinging. - On whether Sessions met with Trump's foreign policy team. "The Trump agenda is to improve the lives of the American people".

In his testimony on Tuesday, Sessions addressed media reports that he may have had a third previously undisclosed meeting with Kislyak at Washington's Mayflower Hotel previous year. I don't think he's politically motivated. - In response to a question about altering the GOP platform as it relates to assistance to Ukraine.

In his confirmation hearing, Mr. Sessions answered Mr. Franken's question truthfully and accurately.

Additionally, when presented with James Comey's "problematic" line from his open hearing from last week as it related to Sessions' continued involvement in the Russian investigation, he propped up the administration's favorite strawman, and decried leaks. Reports this week say Trump may be mulling this move. He did not even deny that it took place, simply muddying the waters.

So far, the military has killed militants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi, Yemen, Chechnya, Pakistan, Turkey, Morocco and India. Some were shot dead, a few made it alive. "I am ordering you to crush our enemy", he said in a speech to troops in the south.

Comey testified that after what he called a "disturbing" private talk with Trump, he went to Sessions.

But the truth was the American people didn't learn many answers at all, Cole said. There was a clear partisan divide on the question, with 73 percent of Democrats backing Comey and 64 percent of GOP voters opting for Trump, but Comey was also favored to be honest by almost twice as many independents as Trump (43 percent vs. 22 percent).

Sessions said it would be "absurd" to suggest that a recusal from a single investigation would render him unable to manage the leadership of the FBI. "That's what I hope and expect would happen".

"I am not stonewalling", a defiant Sessions shot back at Senator Ron Wyden, who accused the attorney general of evading questions.

Democrats on the committee grew frustrated as Sessions continually refused to answer the questions put to him. But no. The president's friends are now pressing the argument that Mueller must go, too.
