India beat Bangladesh, set up title clash with Pakistan

India scored 261 runs with 40.1 overs while Bangladesh scored 264 runs with 50 overs.

Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahman struck half-centuries each as Bangladesh set a 265-run target for India in the second semi-finals of the ongoing clash.

Their unbroken partnership of 178 delighted the huge India contingent in a crowd of 24,340 - a record for a one-day global at Edgbaston.

Discussing the final, Kohli added: "Hopefully our two openers can give us a solid base in the final". Where they could have ended with a score that would put India under pressure in a semifinal, Bangladesh slumped to 218 for 6 in the 43rd over, Kedar Jadhav, of all people, snaring Tamim (70) and Mushfiqur (61) following not long after. "He's not a surprise package (Kedar), he's a smart guy, he knows where to pitch the ball and see what the wicket is offering". The Indian team restricted Bangldesh to 264/7 in their 50 overs on the back of an all-round bowling performance, with two wickets apiece for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Kedhar Jadhav.

Newt Gingrich's stance on Special Counsel Robert Mueller will give you whiplash
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough tore into former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Thursday after he attacked special counsel Robert Mueller as dubious investigator bent on attacking President Trump .

"We're playing for the first time in our life a semi-final, so that is also a fact, and also if it's pressure, I think India has got more pressure than us because the huge population is there, and people love cricket in India a lot", the Bangladesh skipper said. "We will be up for it, but for now we will cherish this win", he said. He got replaced by Delhi Daredevils' wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant in the side who was also one of the members in the standby squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2017. While Sehwag had written after India's victory over Pakistan: "Pote ke baad Bete".

India skipper Virat Kohli said after winning the toss that it looks like a fresh wicket, should stay the same throughout.

When Bangladesh began the day under cloudy skies and the threat of rains not forecast interrupting play, India got the early advantage, Bhuvneshwar Kumar removing Soumya Sarkar in the first over.

At one for one, there were fears that Bangladesh, who collapsed to 84 all out in a 240-run warm-up thrashing by India last month, were poised for another top-order slump. Tamim now has four fifties from his last five innings.

Tamim was fortunate when he was bowled by Hardik Panya off a no-ball when he was on 17, but he took good advantage of the reprieve. The way that Tamim and Musfiqur were dismissed by a part-time bowler (Kedar Jadhav), it became hard for us.

The pick of his shots, though, was an imperious pull - one foot off the ground as he swiveled - off Taskin Ahmed that sailed into the stands over square-leg.

Defending champions India stormed into the final of Champions Trophy 2017 with a crushing win over Bangladesh by nine wickets at Edgbaston on Thursday.

A swift Kohli breezed past his fifty off 42b before Rohit Sharma, with his first six, brought up his second ODI ton against Bangladesh. Kohli painted his cover-drives.
