Heat wave coming to southern Utah, weather service says

Temperatures of this magnitude occur once or twice a year on average, the weather service said, adding that it will be significantly warmer than it has been so far this summer and that the high temperatures are occurring earlier than typical.

By the weekend, triple-digit temperatures will settle in, and are expected to last into next week.

"Strong high pressure building across the Western states will cause temperatures to climb to 12 to 18 degrees above normal. this weekend through at least the middle of next week", the National Weather Service warned in a statement this morning.
