Tyson Foods executive among those shot at GOP baseball practice

Arkansas-based Tyson Foods Inc. says one of its employees was among those shot at a congressional baseball practice Wednesday.

Among those shot was former Michigan House staffer Matt Mika, now the director of government relations at Tyson Foods Inc., Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson confirmed to Crain's.

A representative for Walberg said the Republican congressman planned to issue a statement shortly regarding Mika.

"Matt Mika, one of the guys who helps us, is here at the hospital", Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Tex.) told the Washington Post. It took roughly an hour for Mika's friends and family in MI to learn that he had been present at the field during the shooting - and that he had been shot.
