Merkel assumes United Kingdom to stick with its Brexit talks plan after election

No, Dunt said, but May's vision of a so-called "hard Brexit" - in which the United Kingdom would most likely leave the single European Union market, take full control over its borders, strike new trade deals and apply laws within its own borders - has been rejected.

Referring to the "strong relationship" she had with the DUP, but giving little detail of how their arrangement might work, she said the government would "guide the country through the crucial Brexit talks" that begin in just 10 days' time. British media reported that there will be no formal coalition as neither party thinks it is necessary.

"What the country needs now more than ever is certainty", she said.

The Conservative Party and Labour Party, who both support leaving the single market and scrapping free movement of people, hold 580 of the 650 seats. This translated into 318 seats for the Conservatives (a net loss of 12)-and a loss of the party's overall majority of 330-compared to 261 seats for Labour (a net gain of 29).

Trump under investigation for possible obstruction
Ruddy said the ethics behind Mueller's presence are concerning considering how he was appointed to be special counsel. As attorney general, Sessions is unlikely to answer in detail questions about conversations he's had with Trump .

However, the Conservative Party were only 287 votes from forming a majority government and could have done so by winning four seats.

May unexpectedly called the snap election seven weeks ago, three years early, polls predicting she would massively increase the slim majority she had inherited from Cameron. European Union leaders have vowed to make Britain pay a steep price for abandoning them, a process that will take two years.

"It will be hard to govern and it could mean another election later in the year".

"I can still be Prime Minister". Ultimately, what we're looking at is a "hung Parliament", which means that neither party has a clear majority.

London high-rise death toll rises to 12; more feared dead
London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton said: "In my 29 years of being a firefighter, I have never ever seen anything of this scale". Police in London say at least a dozen people have died in a huge fire that engulfed a 24-storey apartment block on Wednesday.

DUP leader Arlene Foster confirmed she will enter talks with May in an effort to pursue "stability" in Parliament, without giving further details on the conditions for the party's support. He also hammered May on her lack of detail on domestic policies on education, health care and welfare policies. But the uncertainty of a hung parliament has raised concerns about Britain's ability to negotiate divorce terms by then, that would ensure that people and businesses are not stuck in legal limbo.

Six Conservative ministers lost their seats, including Rob Wilson who said the Tory campaign was "terrible".

There was also British-Nigerian Chi Onwurah, who was elected for Newcastle, the first general election constituency to declare Thursday night. "I said at the start this election was wrong".

After winning his own seat in north London, Mr Corbyn said Mrs May's attempt to win a bigger mandate had backfired.

WH: Trump Has 'No Intention' of Firing Mueller
White House press secretary Sean Spicer denied Ruddy's remarks, but his comments fueled most of the media narrative on Wednesday. Those questions were prompted after a friend of President Donald Trump said the White House was considering firing Mueller .

During the campaign, May vowed to build a "stronger, fairer and more prosperous Britain", while Corbyn's signature campaign slogan was to govern "for the many, not the few".
