USA calls on Arab states to ease Qatar blockade as crisis deepens

Turkey and Qatar have both provided support for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and backed rebels fighting to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Both the US State Department and the Turkish officials are conducting independent investigations of the incident, and US congressmen hope the strongly worded, widely supported measure will put pressure on the Trump administration to make Turkey face consequences.

"Turkish troops are coming to Qatar for the sake of the security of the entire region", Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said in Doha while briefing the press on June 8 on the recent crisis with a group of Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Arab countries cut diplomatic relations with Qatar, declared its ambassadors and citizens unwanted while closing their airspace to commercial flights out of and into the country, alleging it was funding Islamist groups.

On Wednesday, Turkey's parliament passed legislation permitting the deployment of troops to a Turkish military base in Qatar.

Turkey's president also called on Saudi Arabia to remove all sanctions on Qatar and open diplomatic talks.

The move is very significant because Turkey is the first non-Arab Muslim nation that has shown its preference for Qatar over Saudi Arabia. Several other countries followed suit.

The protesters said they were suddenly charged by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's guards and supporters.

The Qatari government said the move "reinforces baseless allegations that hold no foundation in fact".

"As much as he might like to resurrect Ankara's old arrangements, it's clear today that USA policy-makers - from both parties and in both the legislative and executive branches - won't countenance a return to the days when Turkey crossed every line, confident that America would remain silent about its sins", added Hamparian.

The BBC reports that the resolution states: "Any Turkish security officials who directed, oversaw, or participated in efforts by Turkish security forces to illegally suppress peaceful protests... should be charged and prosecuted under United States Law".

"Qatar recently purchased about 20,000 tonnes of Russian milling wheat which according to my calculations has just arrived in past days or will arrive in coming days", one European grain trader said.

Turkey and Qatar signed an agreement in 2014 which allowed the construction of a Turkish base in Qatar. "We truly believe that the involvement of the president and the USA will bring this crisis to an end".

All-female 'Wonder Woman' screening goes off without a hitch
Wonder Woman , and the rest of the women in the film, break those molds- they are gods, they are queens and they are warriors. As you may have guessed, I'm already prepared to consider Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman a definitive take on the character .
