Nadal marches on in pursuit of 10th French Open title

Paris - Dominic Thiem demolished defending champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets in a stunning French Open upset on Wednesday, setting up a semi-final duel against nine-time champion Rafael Nadal. "It's very disturbing that one of the biggest cities in the world, most important cities in the world, some of the most popular locations in the town, suffering these terrorist attacks", the second-ranked Djokovic said.

The emerging baseliner eliminated Isner 7-6 (7-1) 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-3) to earn his first grand slam quarter-final berth.

Thiem, who reached the semi-finals a year ago when he lost to Djokovic, will face nine-times champion Rafa Nadal next.

The last repeat women's champion at Roland Garros remains Justine Henin, who won the tournament three consecutive years from 2005-07. Nadal advanced when his opponent, Pablo Carreno Busta, stopped in the second set because of an injured abdominal muscle.

With the wind whipping at more than 15 miles per hour (25 kph), and the temperature in the low 50s (low teens Celsius), Djokovic was out of sorts in so many ways even before that 20-minute third set in which he won only 8 of 34 points.

London Bridge terror attack: All murder victims named
London police have arrested another man suspected of a connection to the lethal attack on London Bridge. Mr Thomas's next of kin have been told, police said, but formal identification has not yet taken place.

Chung forced the contest into a deciding set as play resumed on Sunday, but the world number 67 double faulted on match point to gift Nishikori a 7-5, 6-4, 6-7 (4/7), 0-6, 6-4 victory.

Added Wozniacki: "I think they are, here and (in) the United Kingdom, trying to do everything they can to keep the security at the highest level, and I think here they are doing a good job".

The Russian got tight at 5-3 in the third set tiebreak and briefly shaped to do the same in the fourth set before he settled.

"I have never had any issues with him before", Murray said.

Djokovic struggled in the first set against Ramos-Vinolas but raised his level thereafter to win with a degree of comfort.

South Africa face Pakistan
As rain interrupted play, Pakistan were 19 runs ahead of the DLS par score at the end of 27 overs. Pakistan are 31 for three in 10 overs. "I think actually we do no fielding at all", he said.

Thiem was showing all his considerable skills, flashing backhand winners down the line and punishing Djokovic with his heavy forehand. "That's what happened today".

In another encounter, second-seeded Djokovic meets sixth seed Dominic Theim of Austria. He just turned 30.

Top-ranked Andy Murray is through to the French Open semifinals after beating eighth-seeded Kei Nishikori 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (0), 6-1.

On Wednesday, he wouldn't rule out some time off.
