Djokovic knocked out of French Open in quarter-finals

The "King of Clay" as he Nadal is popularly known as had won the first set comfortably 6-2 and was leading 2-0 in the second set.

Most stunning was the manner of his collapse in the third set.

Djokovic squandered two set points in the opening set. I don't visualise that ever.

"I played well in all the matches here".

"It was good to finish on this note, I wouldn't have liked like just a handshake, like very cold".

Q: We talked about this before the game, but LeBron leaves for about two minutes and you go from up 2 to down 7 in the first half. We got to this point playing our way. "And they have a lot of guys who are great passers, so you got to be alert at all times".

Two - It was just the second time in 984 matches that Djokovic had been bagelled in a final set.

Thiem's performance certainly should not be overlooked.

But even by Djokovic's up-and-down standards since his historic and emotional victory here, this was exceptionally poor. "That last set was really unusual", McEnroe said. However, Djokovic responded to break back twice in a row, only to drop his own serve at 4-2 with a forehand error.

Djokovic admitted that a lack of consistency has hindered his game in recent months as he struggled to explain his defeat against Thiem.

Commenting on the match, McEnroe said he was absolutely baffled by what he saw and was not impressed at all by Djokovic's performance. In five matches at Roland Garros, the newly-turned 31-year-old has only spent just under eight hours on court.

Mili got an apology Tuesday from the Nebraska State Soccer Association , the governing body over the Springfield tournament. Mili said she felt she was treated unfairly. "When my hair starts to grow I put it short because I've always had short hair.

"I always expect a lot from myself but it is a fact that I am not playing close to my best and I know that".

"I love this sport". I play tennis because I enjoy it, and I don't want to get into any fight with anyone.

"Thiem is a tough player". At the same time, I have a responsibility to the game itself.

"It doesn't get any easier", Thiem, beaten by Djokovic in last year's semi-final, said on court when asked to comment on the prospect of facing Nadal.

The last set whizzed by in 20 minutes as Djokovic appeared to be going through the motions - falling short of a seventh successive French Open semi-final. The second set proved to be an enjoyable time for Nadal as Pablo was feeling that stomach injury more and Rafa wasn't letting up and was making him work it as much as possible. "I have the belief that I can reach them again", added Djokovic.

He had only won one set in all their five previous meetings and lost easily to Djokovic here in the last four 12 months ago. This loss was in dominant fashion by a score of 7-6 (5), 6-3, 6-0, with the final set bagel being a rare occurrence indeed.

The Serbian tennis star - a 12-time Grand Slam champion - has said in the past that he is a vegan with a "little bit of fish here and there". It recalls the fall from the golfing heights by Tiger Woods, or, in team terms, the 7-1 thrashing Brazil endured at the hands - or rather feet - of Germany in their home FIFA World Cup semi-final three years ago.
