Keshia Knight Pulliam From 'The Cosby Show' Stands By Comedian At Trial

The first day of Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial was full of drama and emotion, the tension between the prosecution and defense on full display in a packed Pennsylvania courtroom where jurors followed the action like they were watching a tennis match. He chatted with actress Keshia Knight Pulliam, who played his daughter Rudy on the top-rated "Cosby Show", as they walked together.

He said Constand initially told police that she and Cosby did not speak after their 2004 encounter, when, in fact, phone records show the two talked 72 times, with 53 of those calls initiated by Constand.

Day one alone was full of antics and drama, so here are five things you should know about the start of Cosby's trial.

The prosecution revealed that a second woman, Kelly Johnson, will speak as a witness.

Johnson, who at the time of the 1996 incident worked for the agent who arranged Cosby's personal appearances, told the jury that she lost consciousness after taking the pill and woke up semi-clothed in bed with Cosby.

On cross examination, Cosby lawyer Brian McMonagle asked the woman whether lawyer Gloria Allred had coached her about what to say. Constand's side is also expected to bring up a 2005 deposition in which Cosby admitted to giving women quaaludes as a sedative. It wasn't until years later, Sewell says, that she learned that Cosby allegedly sexually assaulted Johnson as well, forcing her to touch his genitals, she said.

The 79-year-old has pleaded not guilty to three charges of aggravated indecent assault in the case.

At times during the course of the legal saga he has been expressive at the defense table, smiling or chuckling, but with Constand on the stand a frown was on his face.

"He had exposed himself to her, taken some of her clothing off", Miller said on the stand. Cosby "wanted her to fondle him and she didn't want to do that. She cried several times during the deposition, I remember she was tearful during the session".

"My biggest concern is when it comes to images of people of color on television and film, no matter what ... negative stereotypes of people of color, we've always had "The Cosby Show" to hold up against that", he said. CNN does not normally name alleged victims of sexual offenses, but she is being identified now because of her public testimony in court.

"You know, it's an unfortunate situation", she said.

Her mother and a lawyer involved in her related worker's compensation case against William Morris could be the first witnesses Tuesday if the judge permits their testimony.

Constand went to police in her native Ontario about a year after the alleged assault.

Sewell said it was only later that she learned the specifics of their encounter.

On Monday, Johnson testified that the Bel-Air Hotel incident occurred after she'd gone over to Cosby's home to practice acting out scenes. The TV star once dubbed America's Dad could get 10 years in prison if convicted.

That same year, Phylicia Rashad, who played Cosby's wife on the series, publicly defended him in an interview with ABC news, even as more women were coming forward with allegations of assault. "Today I get a chance, with your help, to right a wrong", he told jurors.

He betrayed that trust when he pushed her to take drugs that incapacitated her and then took advantage of her sexually, Assistant District Attorney Kristen Feden said.

"I am in no position to defend him, because I can't", Warner said. "Her story unravels", McMonagle said, as Cosby sat up and nodded repeatedly.

Cosby's lawyers questioned her credibility.

His lawyers have attacked Johnson, suggesting she used drugs in the 1990s and asking whether she had a improper relationship with another client of the talent agency, singer Maxi Priest, that resulted in a child.
