Warriors grab 2-0 finals lead

Warriors grab 2-0 finals lead

LeBron's excellence forced Golden State's hand.

Sunday night's Game 2 had to leave Cleveland fans, and all basketball fans who hoped for a competitive series, feeling even more hopeless than they did after Game 1. They never looked back after that.

With head coach Steve Kerr on the sidelines for the first time since the opening round of the playoffs after overcoming back problems, Curry and Durant gave the boss plenty to smile about as the Warriors improved their flawless record in the postseason to 14-0.

The first two games have shown a stark difference in depth.

A triple-double means a player has recorded a double-digit number in three of five statistical categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.

"It seems like it's personal for both of them". Draymond Green had 12 points, six rebounds and six assists playing all game in foul trouble and Shaun Livingston scored 10 off the bench. His aggression led to turnovers, which his teammates profited from, then he caught fire. It also matched Paul Pierce for most in a Finals quarter. Cleveland even lost Game 2 of the 2016 finals by 33 points, a bigger margin than Sunday night's defeat. But that's a small sample size, and many would argue (rightfully so) that James, who tied Magic Johnson with his eighth career NBA Finals triple-double Sunday, still is a cut above KD and the rest of the league. They don't have enough to cover that up, not against the Warriors. And they profited from the mistakes Cavs made. The Warriors won 132-113 despite 20 turnovers.

The NBA Finals are going back to Cleveland like a year ago with the Warriors having a 2-0 series lead.

Cleveland made a contest of this to be sure, as the game did not break open until midway into the third quarter, however, the same ills still slowed the Cavs.

"A totally different Warriors team?" a reporter asked, to clarify.

"That's what everyone wants to see, some of the best players in the world go against each other", Klay Thompson said.

"They make it tough".

Kyrie Irving scored 24 points in the opener and Love had a big day in Game 2, but starters Tristan Thompson and J.R. Smith have been almost invisible and the bench has offered little help. So just really trying to lead this team as much as I can in the ways that I do for this team.

Warriors cruise past Cavs in Kerr's return
That seemed like a bad omen for the Cavaliers , and things got worse once the second half got underway. If all goes well for Kerr, he will likely remain in the position as the championship series continues.

The Warriors, on the other hand, have gotten key contributions from their four All-Stars: Curry, Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, as well as from players like Livingston, Andre Iguodala and Zaza Pachulia at times to set an National Basketball Association record with 14 straight postseason wins. Home cooking? Well, the action returns to Cleveland, and the Cavs bench must bring the same energy when called upon. The Cavaliers reserves haven't had the same impact.
