US poised to warn UN rights forum of possible withdrawal

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said that she had always known that the Paris agreement was burdensome for the US. Nothing in Haley's response denies the skeptics' position on the theory of human-caused climate change, but it does reveal just how ignorant many people are about the debate.

In what can be pegged as a strong sign of support to Trump's decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement, American Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, has said that the U.S. doesn't need India, China and France telling them what to do in case of the Paris agreement.

The deal, brokered by former President Obama that aims to curb greenhouse gases, would cost millions of jobs, Trump said.

Little said he would be making climate change a priority in his talks with Tillerson.

He said that India would get billions of dollars for meeting its commitment under the 2015 Paris Agreement along with China and gain a financial advantage over the US. And though some Trump supporters carried "Pittsburgh not Paris" signs outside the White House Saturday, the mayor of Pittsburgh denounced the president's move to abandon the global pact meant to safeguard the environment.

All too often, however, the victims of the world's most egregious human rights violations are ignored by the very organization that is supposed to protect them.

When asked in November if he believed human activity was connected to climate change, Trump acknowledged that there is "some connectivity".

Tillerson, a former Exxon Mobil chief executive, has been a senior voice inside Cabinet reportedly working to persuade Trump to remain in the agreement. The United States is one of 47 members of the council - a hard fought privilege - but the Trump administration is contemplating pulling out. "So much of what goes on is in Jerusalem, and I think we have to see that for what it is".

A number of figures from United States industry expressed their dismay at Trump's move. "The world knows that, so to put us in that category is not a real assumption". "Industry must now lead and not depend on government". "And what these actors do is they get on the council so that the finger's never pointed to them", Haley said.

Germany's DIHK Chambers of Commerce and VDMA engineering industry group said U.S. companies could gain short-term advantages by Trump's decision.

Tapper later asked Haley again to comment on Trump's 2012 tweet, calling the post "a big box of insane".

"Climate protection can be pushed forward in an effective and competition-friendly way only by all states", said DIHK President Eric Schweitzer.

Trump has been keeping quiet on this question, and aides and advisers aren't saying what their boss' opinion is.

It tweeted: "Clean coal, you can find that next to the unicorns and leprechauns".
