Important milestones in Qatar's history amid Gulf rift

Gulf allies have repeatedly criticized Qatar for alleged support of the Muslim Brotherhood, a almost 100-year-old Islamist group considered a terrorist organization by Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Yemen, the Maldives and Libya's eastern-based government - which is not internationally recognized and has no diplomatic representation in Doha - also cut ties with Qatar.

Qatar's foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani on Tuesday called for dialogue and insisted ties to the USA would remain strong despite a diplomatic storm that has seen Saudi Arabia and others cut ties with Doha.
