French Open Roundup | Nadal and Djokovic enter quarter-finals; Muguruza knocked out

The French Open will have a star-studded Sunday lineup with defending champion Novak Djokovic and nine-time victor Rafael Nadal in fourth round action while third round games still need to be completed after rain washed out play on Saturday. They had met a month earlier at the Qatar Open, a hardcourt tournament, with Nadal prevailing in three sets.

He loses to Spanish tennis player Pablo Carreno Busta.

In February 2016, Nadal defeated Carreno Busta in a rain-interrupted 6-1 6-4 match at the Rio Open. "Maybe I'm a little exhausted, but I have one day off", ATP's official website quoted Carreno-Busta as saying.

"If you had been in my shoes on the court, I think you would have understood".

The Round of 16 at the French Open will conclude with four men's and four women's singles matches on Monday.

The umpire had warned the 31-year-old in the first set for slow play and again in the third before deciding to dock Nadal a first serve.

The Spaniard, who is famous for his meticulous routines on court, is on track for a 10th title at Roland Garros.

Talking about his upcoming challenge against Dominic Theim, Djokovic said, "There's no easy match in a Grand Slam quarter-final, it will be very hard for both of us".

Carreno Busta, underpowered against Raonic, ground out the win 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (8-6) 6-4 8-6 as 84 unforced errors spewed from the Canadian's racquet.

Karen Khachanov will play Andy Murray in the fourth round after the giant Russian beat American 21st seed John Isner 7-6 (7/1), 6-3, 6-7 (5/7), 7-6 (7/3).

In the Women's Singles, Caroline Wozniacki and Kristina Mladenovic will be seen in action in the last-8 stage.

Bacsinszky won 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 over 2002 runner-up Venus Williams of the US.

Wozniacki is the 11th seed and she will face the unseeded Jelena Ostapenko on Tuesday.

"Obviously never losing to a player always helps mentally a little bit, but I don't think it's gonna play too big of a role", Djokovic said of his 5-0 record against Thiem.

Of the four top-half quarter-finalists, she is the only one to have reached the last four in Paris, and will fancy her chances of repeating her run from two years ago when she faces Mladenovic tonight (AEST).

Twenty-five years after Petr Korda reached the French Open final, son Sebastian made his junior debut on Sunday beating sixth seed Marko Miladinovic 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.

"I still can't believe that I'm sitting here".
