Golden State Warriors: Three stars after Game 2 victory over Cavaliers

The Warriors, who welcomed back coach Steve Kerr after he missed 11 games with health issues after 2015 back surgery, stretched their playoff win streak to an NBA-record 14 games by dominating the defending champion Cavaliers in the second half. Once again, the team has cruised past the Cleveland Cavaliers, albeit with a little more fight this time.

Durant's scoring has taken pressure off Stephen Curry and allowed the Warriors to withstand Cleveland runs so well that they haven't trailed after the first quarter in either game.

Curry made all 14 of his free throws.

That seemed like a bad omen for the Cavaliers , and things got worse once the second half got underway. He shot 8-of-12 from the field and scored over 20 points for just the third time in the playoffs.

"We definitely have a sense of what they're capable of, and we felt like a lot of times tonight we played better basketball", Love said.

Golden State, which committed just four turnovers in Game 1, had eight in the first quarter alone but nonetheless managed to build as much as a 10-point advantage in the period.

Thompson had a brutal Game 1, with just six points on 3 of 16 shooting (0 of 5 from 3-point range). It's never been expected of the Cleveland supporting cast to go out and do anything insanely spectacular, but LeBron James (29 points, 14 assists, 11 rebounds), Kyrie Irving (19 points, 7 assists) and Kevin Love (27 points, 7 rebounds) need some help. Thirteen first-half turnovers by the Warriors ultimately became so what stats no one spoke about. He had 38 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds in Game 1 and put up 35 more points, grabbed 13 more rebounds, dished out 6 more assists, and I didn't even realize he was doing all of that. Before the game, the National Basketball Coaches Association presented its annual Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award to co-winners Al Attles, who led the Warriors to their first West Coast championship in 1975, and Hubie Brown, a Hall of Fame honoree in 2005. After the game, he was asked by a reporter whether it's important for the Cavs to protect their home court when the series returns to Cleveland for Game 3 on Wednesday.

Ian Clark and Thompson made 3-pointers on consecutive possessions to help the Warriors build the lead to 12 in the third minute of the second period. Draymond Green had 12 points, six rebounds and six assists playing all game in foul trouble and Shaun Livingston scored 10 off the bench.

What was so discouraging for the Cavs is that they played better in Game 2 but the result didn't really change. "They're obviously trying to make a few other guys make some plays".

This latest Warrior win had everything.

The Galaticos took the game by the scruff in the second half, pinning the Old Ladies in their half for most of the opening minutes.

Having Kerr there sure did - the Warriors felt whole again.
