The long time staple of ESPN's Monday Night Football will return after a six year hiatus.

Williams and his signature song, "All My Rowdy Friends Are Here on Monday Night", which opens with, "Are you ready for some football?" is expected to premiere, in a new version, on September 11.

ESPN dropped Williams after critical remarks about President Obama over a golf outing and also calling him "the enemy" and comparing him to Adolf Hitler. However, the network is clearly trying to bring back a party-like atmosphere to Monday nights.

Both ESPN and Williams said they made a decision to remove the song.

The last few seasons, the games on "Monday Night Football" routinely have been duds. I'm feeling at home and it's a real good thing ...

The Fox News hosts asked Williams to explain the analogy.

Several high-profile on-air personalities, including Trent Dilfer, Jayson Stark and Ed Werder were among those laid off from the network in a round of April cuts that reportedly numbered almost 100.

The network says in a statement that it's bringing back what it calls "most iconic music video in sports television history" because fans missed it.

Are you ready for some football? "I think people will be really, really excited about it".

"It feels natural, fulfilling and satisfying at this point when you've kind of done it all".
