The shocking moment a sea lion grabs a girl from a pier

Michael Fujiwara, a Vancouver native who caught the incident on video, was in the right place at the right time when he started filming the incident.

Bob Beziuk, a general manager of the harbor, told PEOPLE that sea lions will engage with visitors if they are fed - but they're still unsafe wild animals.

A man standing nearby, possibly the girl's father or relative, immediately dived into the water to rescue her after which both of them were pulled out by people around.

"It initially jumped up to the girl to read her, I guess", Fujiwara told CBC news. "Her family was just in shock".

Putin tells NBC: US hackers could have framed Russian Federation in election hack
Putin, speaking to NBC News' Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly , said he recalled the dinner in question as a routine event. Flynn was paid $45,000 to speak at the gala, and was placed in the "seat of honor" next to the Russian president.

Andrew Trites of the Marine mammal Unit of the University of British Columbia later said that "as a rule, sea lions don't attack, but was in search of food". "They're not trained to be next to people", he told CBC News. Moments later, the sea lion jumps up, grabs a small child by her dress and drags her into the harbor water.

The manager of Steveston Harbour Authority says he hopes the girl is okay but that they've been warning people for years not to feed the animals.

Fujiwara said he goes to the dock regularly but has never seen anything like what he captured in the video.

"And you certainly shouldn't be letting your little girl sit on the edge of the dock with her dress hanging down after the sea lion has already snapped at her once". "But it wasn't food, of course".

Ariana Grande holds benefit concert in wake of terror attacks
She and her dancers clasped hands in an unbroken line on stage before the song began, in a show of unity. Fans Stacie Richardson and James Bend say there were shaken after the May 22 attack at Manchester Arena.

Huge, fat, bleary-eyed sea lions, drunk off buckets of fish tourists buy to feed them swim around the wharf, waiting for their free meal. These animals are potentially quite aggressive and can be really unsafe.

If you needed a reminder to be cautious around wildlife, this video is all you need to watch.

In the clip, a sea lion is seen swimming by a pier, sticking its head out to the delight of visitors.
