'Animaniacs': Steven Spielberg, WB Animation, Amblin Developing Reboot Of Animated Series

The show's stars are the Warners - Wakko and Yakko and their sister, Dot - characters of an indeterminate species who cause lighthearted mischief at the Warner Bros. studios. The animated show was developed by Steven Spielberg following the success of Tiny Toon Adventure and gained new popularity after being added to Netflix early previous year. Animaniacs is being rebooted for television, according to IndieWire. A total of 99 Animaniacs episodes were made between 1993 and 1998 - ending with the 1999 direct-to-video release Wakko's Wish.

The show has enjoyed a fresh wave of success after making its debut on Netflix, so it's not much of a surprise to hear it could be getting a new lease on life. But it also comes on the heels of Disney announcing a reboot of one of its beloved '90s cartoon franchises, DuckTales.

Speilberg's Amblin Television has yet to land a network, but with the Animaniacs come back, Amblin is sure to have all eyes its way.
