It featured nine Major League Baseball stars, including Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs and Ken Griffey Jr., all suiting up for Mr. Burns' company softball team.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the fabled "Homer at the Bat" episode of the "The Simpsons", the Hall opened its door for the beloved cartoon goofball. For a variety of amusing reasons, all of the players can't make the game except Strawberry, who bumps Homer Simpson from the starting lineup.

The uproar was triggered after a 10-year-old girl in Texas swallowed one of the bearings from her fidget spinner and choked on it. The CCPC said to check if the fidget spinners have any detachable small parts, as these could lodge in the ears, nose of throat.

Not only did an actual costumed Homer show up to accept the award, but the organization even came up with an award plaque which includes an elaborate inscription.

Also on hand were Hall of Famers Boggs and Smith, Simpsons executive producer Mike Reiss, director Jim Reardon, executive story editor Jeff Martin, casting director Bonnie Pietila, and a Homer mascot.

"I get asked as much about being on "The Simpsons" as I do about baseball", Sax said this week (via the Associated Press). But he is getting his own exhibit at the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. "They want to know about being on that show".

A statement was released from Simpson, saying "My record for eating hot dogs will never be broken".

Dodgers second baseman Steve Sax, Red Sox third baseman Wade Boggs and Cardinals shortstop Ozzie Smith posed with Simpson following his official welcome into the Hall of Fame. "And I can't wait for the ceremony in Canton, Ohio". Strawberry is the lone starter, and Homer pinch-hits for him in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs and the bases loaded. He gets hit in the head with a pitch, giving his Springfield team a 44-43 victory.
