Maeda rallies Dodgers to 7-3 win over Cardinals

Maeda turned it over to Hyun-Jin Ryu in a rare appearance out of the bullpen and the South Korean earned his first save of the season.

Taking the career starter out of his comfort zone required careful deliberation among the front office, doctors and Ryu, who admittedly wasn't thrilled at the idea.

There was nothing routine about the Dodgers' 7-3 victory over the Cardinals on Thursday night. Eventually, Roberts admitted management was trying to figure out Ryu's role.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Dodgers are -145 money line favorites versus the Cardinals, who have odds of +125 to pull off the upset in Los Angeles. Kiké Hernandez went 2 for 4 and scored twice. "I was able to make adjustments and overall it was a good game for me".

Ryu got squeezed out as Roberts tried to juggle his rotation.

It sent political shock waves rippling through the race, with two local newspapers rescinding their support for the GOP candidate. A steady stream of people flowed into Lewis and Clark Library polling place in Helena, Montana, to vote on Thursday afternoon.

However, Roberts added, "This is not something that we plan on being permanent". He gave up three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks in five innings as the Dodgers (28-20) took two of three in the series.

The Dodgers took over from there. That new relief staff is headed by closer Greg Holland, who, in his first season since coming back from Tommy John surgery, leads all of baseball with 19 saves. He was out stretching at second. First baseman Matt Carpenter has also seen his bat quiet down lately, as Carpenter has just four hits in his last 30 at-bats entering Thursday.

The left-hander started the eighth by getting a grounder off the bat of Yadier Molina.

The Dodgers torched Wacha (2-2) for six runs in four innings before the announced crowd of 47,427 at Dodger Stadium. The right-hander struck out five and walked two. He seemed unlikely to pitch deep into the game too, after allowing three runs in a disastrous first inning and racking up 59 pitches in the first three.

"They did a good job battling", Wacha said.

The Cardinals' first reliever, Brett Cecil, allowed Taylor to score from third base on a wild pitch. Wacha was working with a 3-0 advantage before he even threw his first pitch, but he was unable to hold the early lead afforded to him by the offense.

Maeda was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list before the game as center fielder Joc Pederson was placed on the seven-day concussion DL. He was hurt in a violent warning track collision with Puig on Tuesday.

Ryu's name was missing from the starting lineup announced by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts on Wednesday. Fowler ended the day with a.205 average.

The Cardinals continue their road trip out west this weekend with a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies.

Finance Committee Approves UW Tuition Freeze
The committee's actions are crucial, as neither chamber typically makes significant changes to the budget once it reaches them. Lena Taylor of Milwaukee argued against extending the tuition freeze for two years - saying it actually would hurt students.
