Cech: Europa League qualification "a bittersweet feeling"

Liverpool were drawn with Real Madrid during their last jaunt in the Champions League during the 2014-15 season, alongside competition debutants Ludogorets Razgrad and Basel, who pipped them to second place.

Liverpool ensured a return to the Champions League by beating relegated Middlesbrough on Sunday, although they will have to play in a qualifying round after finishing fourth in the Premier League, two points behind Manchester City.

A fifth-placed finish means Wenger's men will be on the outside looking in after 19 straight seasons in Europe's elite club competition.

The 67-year-old Frenchman's contract is entering its final weeks and uncertainty about his future has persisted for months.

Wenger, reflecting on the atmosphere around Emirates Stadium, said: "The psychological environment was absolutely horrendous".

"It has been hard yes", Wenger said.

Following the match Wenger did not want to focus on his personal situation, but said the tension coming from fans who want him out was not helping the players.

"I believe we have a big job to do in the summer".

"If you have one odd year in 20 years, it is not a problem", Cech said.

What's unclear is why Wenger is being so coy.

When asked whether he would continue in defence next season, Milner told reporters: "Probably a question for the manager".

Wenger is not ready to give anything away, yet.

Kyrie Irving's takeover puts Celtics in win-or-die situation
The barely-breathing Celtics went in to Game 3 as 16.5-point underdogs and trailed by 21 points halfway through the third quarter. Cleveland's Big 3 combination of Irving, James and Kevin Love totaled 93 points, 25 rebounds and 15 assists during the game.

"Before, we were never in the Champions League, and now we have been there six or seven times in a row".

But Pochettino's men will be roaring on Ajax in the Europa League final this week, as they will be elevated to pot two if Manchester United are denied entry through defeat in Stockholm. "It is the technical department who is responsible for that". 'Maybe it was a penalty but I didn't see it again, ' said Klopp. The Blues delivered a record 30 top-flight victories in a 38-game season - and look well set for another win at Wembley next weekend as they target the Double. Only once, though, has the north London club come close to winning the trophy _ losing to Barcelona in the 2006 final.

"I was listening to what Wenger was saying and I agree that they lost a lot of games but they also won a lot of games in the dying minutes or with lucky decisions at times. I hope next season can be just as positive and we can win many more trophies".

Overall I believe that we played since January in a very hard environment for different reasons.

He said: "I think he's a hard man to manage". And some other reasons that I will talk about another day.

He's been down with everything he's been going through, and then for him not to be here, I know that hurts him even more. That run by Irving appeared to jumpstart him, as the third quarter was yet another Kyrie playoff masterpiece.
