MacBook, MacBook Pro 2017 And MacBook Air To Be Announced At WWDC?

The 13.3-inch MacBook Air laptop with 8GB RAM and 128GB hard drive capacity originally retails for $999.

Apple is likely to announce a new MacBook Air 2017 model at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). A new MacBook Pro will sport Intel's Kaby Lake processor, an upgrade over the current Skylake-based models. An Apple spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the rumors. Best used for folks who find the MacBook Pro line too expensive and tight, the MacBook Air got its share of big orders - something believed to have enticed the Cupertino company to keep the device afloat.

Rival Microsoft recently unveiled its own Surface Laptop as a possible competitor to MacBook Air. The Cupertino company has reportedly sold a whopping 4.2 million Macs in the March quarter, up 4% from the 4 million it sold in the a year ago quarter. Furthermore, the new versions of the MacBook and MacBook Pro are expected to be announced, and Apple is also considering updating the MacBook Air, its most affordable notebook. While the Air has received component upgrades in the past, it's been nearly seven years since Apple made major design changes to it.

Intel's new processors are more powerful and are also more efficient, which means you should see longer battery life out of them. The most recent MacBook Pro, released more than 500 days after its predecessor, added a Touch Bar keyboard strip for quick access to app functions, a larger trackpad and a fingerprint log-in sensor. Bloomberg states that sales of the MacBook Air remain strong, despite the fact that Apple killed the 11-inch MacBook Air last October.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off and the company may be getting ready to announce a handful of new notebook computers. Apple typically ships the new Mac software upgrades later in the year.
