16-Year-Old Dead After Bus Crash near Ashland

According to the Kenosha Sheriff's Department, the school bus was stopped in the westbound lane of the 24500 block of Wilmot Road (Highway C) when it was struck by the van. It was not clear how many students were on the bus at the time of the crash.

According to the Ashland County Sheriff's Office, the bus was traveling northbound on STH 112 when it was struck from behind by a auto driven by a 16-year-old Ashland High School student.

A 16-year-old Ashland High School student was killed Friday Morning in a car-bus collision south of Ashland. "So the van appears to have hit at a pretty, at a decent rate of speed", said Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth.

"It was a work van, it had a granite or another countertop in the back of it", Beth said. The other students were transported to the Trevor Fire Department to be released to school officials.

Beth credited the school's response. Names are being withheld pending further investigation and notification of family.
