Obama's Russia Ambassador Doubts Sally Yates' Blackmail Claim About Michael Flynn

Obama's Russia Ambassador Doubts Sally Yates' Blackmail Claim About Michael Flynn

Ms Yates' comments came after former Obama officials revealed that the outgoing president himself firmly warned Mr Trump against naming Mr Flynn as national security adviser, just two days after the Nov 8 election.

Republicans asked a lot of questions about "unmasking" - the practice wherein intelligence officials request the identity of Americans subject to surveillance because they communicated with foreign subjects of US intelligence spying.

Trump - despite Obama's warnings - proceeded to hire Flynn, who only lasted 23 days, before being fired for misleading Vice President Mike Pence about inappropriate communications he had with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

Fans of Sally Yates have taken to Twitter using the hashtag #SallyYatesIsAPatriot to demonstrate their support for the former acting attorney general before she testifies in front of a Senate subcommittee.

She was joined in the meeting by a senior career official in the Justice Department.

Warren Buffett says people who lose their jobs have become 'roadkill'
Buffett also helped finance 3G's merger of the Burger King and Tim Hortons chains to create Restaurant Brands International Inc. But for Berkshire's executives, the one that got away, so to speak, is really Alphabet.

It also highlighted the mounting pressure the White House faces from three congressional investigations into Russia's interference in the election. The former director of national intelligence testified he's hadn't, but also said he hadn't been aware of the FBI investigation.

Monday was a big day in Washington as the nation tuned in to watch the much-anticipated Senate hearing with former acting Attorney General Sally Yates and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

Yates and Clapper said they did see the names of Americans who have been picked up in the course of intelligence gatherings.

"I looked at this, I made a determination that I believed that it was unlawful".

"We weren't the only ones who knew of this", Yates said. The Russians knew that Flynn "lied"?

Sure, Yates was called on to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee' Crime and Terrorism subcommittee about the Donald Trump campaign and administration's possible ties to Russian Federation, but to Spicer, she's nothing more than a "political opponent" of the president. "We were giving them all this information so that they could take action".

He went on to say that Yates was not excited about Trump taking office before getting interrupted by a reporter. In response to questions, she denied leaking any classified information about the case to the news media.

He also said that Yates' assertions about Flynn weren't clear the first time she came to the White House.

Her testimony, coupled with the revelation hours earlier that President Barack Obama himself had warned Donald Trump against hiring Flynn shortly after the November election, made clear that alarms about Flynn had reached the highest levels of the USA government months before.

Trump says he did not ask Comey for his loyalty
White House officials and others insisted on anonymity in order to disclose private conversations and internal deliberations. CNN reported Friday that Comey is "not worried" about Trump's suggestion that their conversations could have been recorded.
