Labour officials veto councillors' extraordinary coalition deal with the Tories

The action, ordered by party leader Kezia Dugdale, "has left voters in Aberdeen betrayed and council colleagues suspended because she'd rather prop up the SNP than work together with the Conservatives", Ms Davidson will claim.

He said the nine suspended councillors in Aberdeen "broke those rules".

She claimed that while "a few" SNP politicians had called out Mr Campbell for his remarks over the years, 44 per cent of the party's MSPs - including ten Scottish Government ministers - and 50 per cent of its MPs had "actively encouraged him along".

"It was rejected because we didn't believe there was enough evidence the Labour group put forward that there would be no compulsory redundancies and no end to austerity", Dugdale said.

Labour has suspended the membership of the nine councillors pending an investigation.

"Labour can not do any deal with another party if it would result in further austerity being imposed on local communities".

Scottish Labour councillors have voted to elect a Conservative provost in West Lothian.

I am not responsible for Stuart Campbell, any more than Kezia Dugdale is responsible for people who hurl abuse at me in the name of being a supporter of the Labour party.

She suspended all nine Labour councillors in Aberdeen after they ignored her public order to abandon a deal they had struck with the Tories and independents.

"We're still Labour councillors through and through, and I'm sure everything is going to be rectified and will be in good order".

Responding, Ms Sturgeon said she "unequivocally" condemned abuse of any kind - and accused Ms Dugdale of raising the issue now to create a "smokescreen" to hide her own party's problems.

She told ITVNews: "The reality is in this election the Tories only want to talk about independence because they don't want to talk about their record and they don't want to talk about their policies". She told an election rally in the Aberdeen group had asked the party's Scottish executive for permission to sign the deal with the Tories on Tuesday night but it was refused. "No wonder Scottish Labour is continuing its death spiral".

Trump reaction to special counsel measured, says White House
"A thorough investigation will confirm what we already know - there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity". Whatever the reason, Rosenstein would have to inform Mueller in writing.

"Labour can not do any deal with another party if it would result in further austerity being imposed on local communities". "This is absolutely shameful behaviour from Labour", McCaig said.

"People across Aberdeen and the rest of Scotland now know where Labour's priorities lie - they put jumping into bed with the Tories ahead of any principle". "They can no longer call themselves a party that supports public services, given this anti- democratic pact with a right-wing Tory Party obsessed with austerity and cuts".

An attempt to form a coalition with the four LibDem councillors proved fruitless.

New LibDem councillor Jennifer Stewart yesterday resigned the party whip to join the two other members of the independent alliance in the administration.

Labour has agreed a power-sharing agreement with the SNP to run Fife Council while a proposal for a deal with the nationalists in Edinburgh is expected to come back to the SEC after being initially rejected.

"The outcome of the election shows that many voters were unimpressed by the Conservatives' decision to focus exclusively on the constitution, with nothing to say about local issues".
